Frequently Asked Questions
What is the importance of data mining in text mining?
Text mining is not just a matter of linguistic analysis, there are many methods of discovering new information based on non-textual analysis. The data mining tools we are currently integrating allow for many new options including classification, clustering and the generation of association rules. On their own they are useful tools, but we are carrying out research as to how they can be improved through tighter coupling with the textual analysis tools. This is possible because of the internal architecture of Cheshire allowing fast, scalable access to the processing and output of the integrated tools and the advanced information retrieval engine.
