NaCTeM

Collaboration with Professor Kenjiro Taura, University of Tokyo

With the support and expertise in high-performance computing of Professor Kenjiro Taura's group at the University of Tokyo, NaCTeM is able to undertake analysis of huge document collections in order to build the comprehensive indexes of scientific article repositories that underpin its semantic search applications such as KLEIO, MEDIE and AcroMine. Prof Taura's GXP make tool is a system allowing workflow execution instructions expressed declaratively as Makefiles to be executed in a distributed environment.

Strategic Partnership between NaCTeM and BRC

A new Strategic partnership between the National Centre for Text Mining (NaCTeM) and the Manchester Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) has been launched to help scientists faced with "information overload". For further details, see the news on the Central Manchester and Manchester Children's Hospitals NHS Trust website.

MERLIN

NaCTeM is working in association with the partners of the MERLIN (Metadata Enrichment for Repositories in a London Institutional Network) project (University College London, The University of London Computing Centre and The University of Nottingham). The project will demonstrate and evaluate the use of off-the-shelf text mining and thesaurus tools to derive descriptive subject classification from repository deposits, and will be using NaCTeM's TerMine term extraction tool.
