Mail Mining: Extracting Collaborative Activities from E-Mail
Akiko Murakami and Koichi Takeda
Text mining has been successfully applied to Customer Relationship
Management (FAQ generation, customer satisfaction, trend analysis, problem
detection).
Recently the scope of text mining has been extended to many different
areas, including e-mail, patents, and biomedical documents. Since e-mail
has a very
unique combination of structured information (links, threads,
sender/receiver fields, subject, timestamp, and so on)
and textual information, e-mail, however, cannot be easily mined by known
text mining approaches.
This talk introduces a new, "multi-modal"text mining approach which has to
be developed to obtain insights into
human relationship, collaboration, etc.
