A patient recorded to be suffering from tuberculoid leprosy since 1973 and on regular Dapsone monotherapy for about nine years developed
asymmetrical
, erythematous, subcutaneous, nodular swellings restricted chiefly to the extensor aspects of lower limbs two months after discontinuation of Dapsone therapy. During the course of Dapsone treatment, the patient had developed similar swellings twice previously each time when he stopped the drug for about a month. The swellings disappeared on commencement of Dapsone Treatment. This has been reconfirmed under our supervision. The biopsy of one of the lesions revealed
panniculitis
with vasculitis. The original diagnosis of leprosy was probably invalid.

A 12-year-old crossbred dog (case 1) and a 12-year-old Shetland sheepdog (case 2) were presented with a history of lameness and distal limb swelling. Physical examination revealed joint effusions and
asymmetrical
swellings of the extremities. In case 1, a diagnosis of arthritis and cellulitis was made on fine-needle aspiration biopsy of the synovium and subcutis. In case 2, bone biopsies and synovial aspirates diagnosed osteomyelitis and arthritis. A diagnosis of pancreatic disease was made on the findings of marked elevations of serum lipase concentrations and ultrasonographic identification of pancreatic masses in both cases. Both the cases were non-responsive to symptomatic management and were subsequently euthanased. Postmortem examination confirmed the diagnosis of
panniculitis
, arthritis and osteomyelitis in both cases. A pancreatic exocrine adenoma was identified in case 1 and a pancreatic adenocarcinoma with widespread metastases in case 2. To the authors' knowledge the association of
panniculitis
, polyarthritis and osteomyelitis with pancreatic disorders has not been reported previously in canine clinical cases.

Weber christian's disease or idiopathic
panniculitis
is a rare condition characterized by an inflammation of the subcutaneous adipose tissue; it is a non-specific pathological condition that remains a central issue of debate and whose outcome is unpredictable. We here report the case of a 9-month-old female infant admitted in the hospital with sepsis preceded by respiratory symptoms and followed by the occurrence of small, hard, susceptible,
asymmetrical
erythematous subcutaneous nodes located in the arms and lower limbs. Cutaneous biopsy showed lobular hypodermitis with polymorphonuclear neutrophil infiltrations. The diagnosis of Weber Christian's disease was retained after eliminating other differential diagnoses. The patient was treated with prednisone with good outcome; during the follow-up period and during disease regression the diagnosis of B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia was made; this uncommon outcome has never been described in the literature. The aim of this study is to discuss any similar situation where another diagnosis was made in patients initially treated for idiopathic lobular
panniculitis
. This highlights the need for exhaustive etiological investigations and prolonged monitoring in order to search for a possible associated disorder.
