Adenosquamous carcinoma
of the prostate is rare. Even rarer is the subsequent squamous metastasis or recurrence in which only the malignant squamous component is observed in some sites, with the adenocarcinoma present in other sites. We describe a case of squamous cell carcinoma presenting at the prostatic bed 6 years after radical retropubic prostatectomy was performed for adenocarcinoma. Even though the
primary tumor
showed adenocarcinoma with foci of squamous differentiation, there was no morphologic evidence of adenocarcinoma in the current tissue examined. The suspected origin of the squamous tumor from a recurrence of the prostate tumor is discussed.

Laryngeal adenosquamous carcinoma (ASC) is a rare malignancy, and the problems in true diagnosis of this entity are well known. In this paper, we describe a case of ASC and discuss its distinct histopathology in metastatic lymph nodes. A heavy smoker man presented with a progressive neck mass. Based on incisional biopsy, diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) was made and total laryngectomy with bilateral radical neck dissection was performed. Sections of
primary tumor
showed a well-differentiated SCC. However, lymph node metastases had a distinct feature of glandular structures. Further investigation with Mayer's mucicarmine stain confirmed the presence of rare scattered glands in
primary tumor
and the final diagnosis was changed to ASC.
Adenosquamous carcinoma
is a distinct entity and must be distinguished from the common SCC of larynx. As a result, when a lesion with diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma shows evidence of glandular differentiation in a subsequent biopsy or in nodal metastases, more investigation is necessary. Moreover, the glandular structures in
primary tumor
, as in this case, may be rare and inconspicuous. Therefore, we suggest the precise evaluation of metastatic lymph nodes for any laryngeal tumor with diagnosis of SCC. This helps to make appropriate therapeutic decisions with respect to the aggressive behavior of ASC and its high propensity for lymph node metastasis.

Adenosquamous carcinoma
of the pancreas directly invading surrounding organs is rare. Here, we describe a case of pancreatic adenosquamous carcinoma directly invading the spleen and colon in a 44-year-old man. Imaging examinations revealed a huge heterogeneous mass in the enlarged spleen and a colonic lump, but showed no obvious space-occupying lesion in the pancreas. An exploratory laparotomy revealed that the enlarged spleen, pancreatic tail, and splenic flexure of the colon were firmly attached to one another. Splenectomy combined with resection of the distal pancreas and splenic flexure of the colon was performed. In the distal pancreatectomy specimen, a 0.8-cm solid mass was present in the tail. The tumor contained definite components of both adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. The patient died of cachexia five months after admission. This case is unique in that the metastatic tumor involving the spleen was considerably larger than the
primary tumor
itself.

Adenosquamous carcinoma
is a rare colorectal tumor with few cases described in the literature; no children have been reported. A 12-year-old-girl presented tenesmus, diarrhea, and iron deficiency anemia. Intestinal bowel disease was suspected, colonoscopy and biopsy were performed and the diagnosis was a squamous cell carcinoma. Chemoradiation therapy based on last colorectal cancer guidelines was started. Complete regression of the
primary tumor
was observed with lymph node progression. The pathology report of the lymphadenectomy revealed metastasis of adenosquamous carcinoma, although there was not any adenomatous component in the first biopsy. The patient presented progression with liver metastases, despite stable local disease due to response to first-line treatment of the squamous component.
