An IgM class monoclonal antibody (MAb) was derived by immunizing BALB/c mice with a human
endometrial carcinoma
cell line. This MAb, termed C12, exhibited strong reactivity against
endometrial carcinoma
, but lesser reactivity against normal endometria. The antigen recognized by MAb C12 (C12 antigen) was detected by radiometric assay in sera from patients with various carcinomas, but not in sera from patients without carcinomas or in sera from normal individuals. MAb C12 was found to agglutinate blood type O erythrocytes, but not A, B, or AB erythrocytes. To clarify the specificity of MAb C12, tissue staining experiments were performed in parallel using MAb C12, Ulex europaeus lectin I (anti-H), and a monoclonal anti-H antibody. In
endometrial carcinoma
tissues, both H and C12 antigens increased, but the C12 antigen showed a prominent increase, in contrast to the H antigen. Further, the C12 antigen was not found in endothelial cells of blood type O patients. In sera, the level of the H antigen varied according to the host's blood type. The sera from blood type O individuals possessed higher levels of the H antigen than those with blood type A or B. Thus, the H antigen showed no value as a tumor-associated serum marker. ABO blood group
status. Thus, MAb C12 was demonstrated to be a unique MAb that reacts with an H-like antigen occurring in the sera of patients with carcinomas irrespective of
ABO blood group
status. MAb C12 may prove to be a useful marker for cancer patient serum.

The aim the research was to study the hormonal state of reproductive age women with tumors of body of uterus. The quantitative changes of sex steroid hormones: progesterone (P), estradiol (E), testosterone (T), gonadotropine -Luteinizing hormone (LH) and Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) were investigated. ) tumors of body of uterus (the middle age was 20-45 years). The determination of hormones was made by the enzymatic analysis method (ELAIZA). For the research of blood groups, were used the immunoserologic methods. The study have revealed that in blood of reproductive age women with benign and malignant tumors of body of uterus, level of estradiol was increased while levels of progesterone and testosterone were sharply reduced. Amount of Follicle-stimulating hormone and Luteinizing hormone were also increased. phenotypes - O (I) phenotypic group of ABO system has its highest frequency in blood of women with cancer of body of uterus. Cancer of body of uterus is associated with O (I) phenotypic groups; benign tumor of body of uterus - with A(II) and AB(IV) phenotypic groups. Women with cc and EE genetic variants of Rh-Hr system have sensitivity to the development of benign and malignant tumors of body of uterus; women with ee genetic variant have lower sensitivity towards body of uterus cancer and sharply expressed sensitivity to uterus benign tumors. In women with malignant tumors of body of uterus the frequency of distribution of Rh-Hr system CC genetic variant was sharply reduced.

Objectives:
The
ABO blood group
antigens were found on most epithelial cells and in secretions. In the normal endometrium there is a variable expression of histo-blood group and related antigens suggesting a hormonal regulation. A relationship between ABO blood groups and
endometrial cancer
has been investigated with contradictory results. In this study we investigated the influence of blood types on clinical and pathological characteristics of
endometrial cancer
patients.
Method:
Retrospective cohort study. Clinical and pathological data were extrapolated and their association with blood groups were assessed.
Results:
A total of 203 type I
endometrial cancer
patients were included in the final analysis. Univariate analysis indicated that a lower frequency of G3 undifferentiated tumors was observed in patients with A blood group (P=0.027). Multivariate analysis, including also clinical features such as Age, BMI, parity, hypertension and diabetes confirmed that patients with A group present a lower risk of G3 tumors in comparison with not A patients. (OR=0.32, P=0.011).
Conclusions:
Patients with A genotype have a lower risk to develop G3 type I
endometrial cancer
.
ABO blood group
might represent a useful, easy access and cheap biomarker for patients' selection and for management personalization of
endometrial cancer
patients.
