With the aim to analyze the association of Type I Neurofibromatosis with secondary arterial hypertension, a retrospective study has been performed on 36 patients, diagnosed of pheochromocytoma (n = 12) and/or renal artery stenosis (n = 25), finding in 6 of them diagnostic criteria of Type I neurofibromatosis, of these 4 showed pheochromocytoma, 1 renal artery stenosis and 1 pheochromocytoma plus renal artery stenosis. CAT and angiography were the best diagnostic imaging methods to confirm clinic and biological suspicion of adrenal tumor of renal artery stenosis. It is recommended the systematized study of patients with NF-1 together with their relatives who phenotypically show some illness stigma, or with arterial hypertension resistant to conventional treatment.

The case of an 18-year-old man with numerous neurofibromas along his left ulnar nerve is described. The patient had a painful mass in the medial third of the internal aspect of his left forearm, and two additional symptomatic painful masses were identified during clinical examination: one in the distal portion of the retroepitroclear groove and another near the Guyon tunnel in the wrist. The main symptom was neurogenic pain; however, sensory and motor disturbances were also present. No other stigma of neurofibromatosis (NF) was found, and no cases of NF were known in the patient's family. During surgery many neurofibromas were found; the three painful neurofibromas and some of the other larger lesions were microsurgically excised. The patient's symptoms fit the criteria for segmental NF or NF5. This is a very rare form of NF characterized by lesions located in a particular area of the body.

A 7-year-old girl had suffered from progressive swelling of the nasal dorsum over 2 years. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging showed a large soft tissue density in the nasal dorsum. Tc-99m DTPA cisternography and brain SPECT showed a restricted mass in the nasal dorsum without intracranial connection. The mass was resected using an external rhinoplasty approach, and the pathologic diagnosis was of neurofibroma. Furthermore, the nasal dorsum was identified as the origin of the neurofibroma without the stigma of neurofibromatosis. Here, we present this case and discuss the clinical and pathological aspects of neurofibroma arising in the nasal dorsum.
