Using an anterior chamber lens made from Perspex CQ we began a series of 100 consecutive implantations in 1976. Iris tucking of at least one foot of the lens was found in 19 cases, however this complication was not associated with
iritis
or glaucoma at the time of the study.
Tenderness
over the operative eye was rare and did not appear to be a significant problem. There were no cases of the uveitis-glaucoma-hyphema syndrome. For an average follow-up time of 12.3 months, 90% of the eyes without pre-existing retinal pathology demonstrated 20/40 or better visual acuity.
