Two cases of basosquamous cell carcinoma of the skin with lymph node, lung and
bone metastases
are reported. Metastases occurred 4 and 7 years after identification of the primary tumour. Both the primary and metastatic lesions had areas of typical
basal cell carcinoma
and squamous cell carcinoma and also intermediate carcinomatous tissue. In the bone metastasis of one case there were rudimentary hair follicles and areas of matrical differentiation. These cases further support the existence of basosquamous cell carcinoma and emphasize its metastatic potential.

A case of meningeal carcinomatosis due to metastasizing
basal cell carcinoma
is reported. The patient was a 34-year-old woman who had a recurrent
basal cell carcinoma
of the upper eyelid with deep invasion. In spite of extensive surgery and radiotherapy, multiple
bone metastases
developed, and the patient eventually died of meningeal carcinomatosis. The possible pathogenic mechanisms of meningeal the present case, cancer cells reached the leptomeninges from adjacent vertebral metastases. It is suggested that the possibility of meningeal carcinomatosis should be considered in every patient with cancer and multiple vertebral metastases, particularly when neurologic signs involving the brain, cranial nerves, or spinal nerves are present.

Metastasis of
basal cell carcinoma
(
BCC
) rarely occurs. Few cases have been reported in the literature; those cases reported generally resulted from chronic, extensive, recurrent lesions on the head or neck. Metastases may involve lymph nodes, the lungs, and bone, as well as abdominal viscera. Once distant metastasis takes place, survival usually is short and palliative treatment is sought. With regard to
bone metastases
, several case reports have demonstrated similar clinical features indicative of osseous involvement. We present a case report of a patient with an extensive
BCC
with histologic documentation and probable bone metastasis of
BCC
. Clinical and radiographic features of this case were consistent with previously reported patients. However, confirmatory postmortem biopsy of the bone specimen was refused by the patient's family.
