Lymphoma of the
uterine cervix
is very rare. We report a case of diffuse large
B cell lymphoma
(DLBCL) involving the
uterine cervix
treated at a newly commissioned semiurban cancer centre in north India in 2015. Data for this study was obtained from the hospital electronic medical records and the patient's case file. We also reviewed published case reports of uterine and cervical lymphoma involving forty-one patients. We treated a case of stage IV DLBCL cervix with six cycles of R-CHOP (rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisolone) and intrathecal methotrexate followed by consolidation with radiotherapy. The patient showed complete response to chemotherapy. We conclude that, in advanced stage lymphoma involving uterus and cervix, combination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy is effective in short term.

uterine cervix
and osteolytic skeletal lesions warranted a biopsy of the
uterine cervix
which revealed diffuse large
B-cell lymphoma
.

F-FDG PET/CT scan helped in guiding the site of biopsy to reach a final diagnosis in this unusual case of lymphoma with a secondary involvement of
uterine cervix
presenting as a pathological fracture.

Extranodal marginal zone lymphoma (EMZL) of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) of the uterus is rare, and the etiology, pathophysiology and cytogenetic features remain unknown at present. The present study reports a case of a 71-year-old female with EMZL of the
uterine cervix
that was 80 mm in diameter and invaded directly into the rectal serosa. Complete remission was successfully induced by 6 courses of immunochemotherapy with rituximab plus cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine and prednisolone. Although the metaphase spread of the tumor cells was unavailable for whole cytogenetic analysis, fluorescence
in situ
hybridization (FISH) detected triple signals for
MALT1
and
B-cell lymphoma
2, located at chromosome 18q21, and the centromere of chromosome 18, which was suggestive of trisomy 18, and in combination with previous studies, suggested a possible association between trisomy 18 and the large tumor at initial presentation in the present patient. In addition, FISH examination detected immunoglobulin heavy chain gene rearrangement, although the translocation partner was unconfirmed. A total of 18 previously-studied patients with EMZL of the uterus, including that of the present study, were reviewed with respect to their clinical features and treatment and cytogenetic abnormality. In the evaluation of the English scientific literature, this is the first reported patient with EMZL of the uterus with partly determined cytogenetic abnormalities.

A 37-year-old-woman was referred to our center after her
uterine cervix
health screening presented abnormal findings. We performed a biopsy of the
uterine cervix
to examine for cervical dysplasia, and diagnosed a diffuse large
B-cell lymphoma
transformed from mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma of the cervix. The patient presented with concurrent chlamydial cervicitis and received eradication therapy for Chlamydia trachomatis. Four months later, the CD20 positive abnormal lymphocyte disappeared and complete remission was achieved. MALT lymphoma is considered to correlate with infection and inflammation. Particularly, the relationship between gastric MALT lymphoma and Helicobacter pylori is well known. MALT lymphoma of the
uterine cervix
is rare, and its relationship with C.trachomatis infection is unknown. Further studies are warranted to investigate this association.

Malignant lymphoma of the
uterine cervix
is exceedingly rare and is difficult to diagnose by cervical cytology. The current study presents a case of malignant lymphoma of the
uterine cervix
that was presumptively diagnosed by cervical cancer screening in which the patient had no clinical symptoms. The anterior lip of the
uterine cervix
was occupied by a macroscopic hemorrhagic tumor. The obtained tumor cells exhibited typical cytological features of malignant lymphoma and were positive for CD20. The final diagnosis was diffuse large
B cell lymphoma
of the
uterine cervix
, stage IIEA (Ann Arbor classification). The patient received 6 courses of R-CHOP chemotherapy and achieved complete remission. Despite its rarity, the possibility of malignant lymphoma should be considered while screening for cervical cancers using Pap smears. The Pap test screening may be useful for the early diagnosis of malignant lymphoma of the
uterine cervix
in certain cases. By reaching a rapid and accurate diagnosis, immediate treatment may be initiated and surgery may be avoided.

Lymphoma with prominent spindle cell features is a morphological variant of diffuse large
B-cell lymphoma
(DLBCL) and is categorized as a rare variant by the WHO classification. Most cases arise from the skin, with only two cases reported in the
uterine cervix
to date. Here, we report two cases of spindle cell variant DLBCL of the
uterine cervix
. Although these cases might be rare, we believe that, as gynecologists and pathologists increase their knowledge of this variant type, more cases will be diagnosed properly.

Primary lymphoma of the
uterine cervix
is a very infrequent disease, usually affecting perimenopausal women. Symptoms are very similar to other gynecological malignancies, but treatment and prognosis completely differ, as most of these patients have a better survival. This condition has to be suspected in women with recent normal Pap smear test, rapidly growing tumor and initially non-contributory biopsies. We report a case of primary diffuse large-
B-cell lymphoma
of the
uterine cervix
mimicking a locally advanced cervical cancer with right ureter hydronephrosis at diagnosis. She was medically managed with a combination of rituximab and chemotherapy with cyclophosphamide, hydroxydaunorubicin, oncovin, and prednisone, associated to methotrexate for central nervous system prophylaxis. We will discuss about the role of combined treatments with surgery and radiotherapy, and the fertility sparing management in young women.
