Brucellosis is a worldwide zoonotic gram-negative bacterium of worldwide distribution. Its role in causing miscarriage in animals is well documented. Data on its role in human abortion are very few. This paper was carried out on selected women with abortion or history of abortion to clarify the role of brucellosis in human abortion. A total of 129 women were selected from Al-Zahraa University Hospital and other obstetric and gynecological hospitals in the vicinity of Greater Cairo. The patients were subjected to clinical, gynecological, and serodiagnosis (STAT and ELISA) of brucellosis. Also, routine urine (Nuclepore technique) and stool (Kato thick smear) was done as well as skin tests and ELISA for common hepatic parasites. The results showed that 59 had brucellosis, 27 had toxoplasmosis, 15 had fascioliasis and 29 had other cause(s) of abortion. Meanwhile, none had visceral leishmaniasis or schistosomiasis mansoni. the signs and symptoms of all patients were hepatosplenomegaly (31.1%), lower back abdominal pain (23.13%), lassitude, headache (each, 21.7%), lymphadenopathy (20.1%), vomiting (17.1%), loss of appetite, myalgia or diarrhea or
constipation
(each, 15.42 %), weight loss (14.6%), chest pain (13.9%), night sweating or dizziness (11.65%), fever or right sided abdominal pain (each, 10.7%), chills (7.71%),
urticaria
or monoarthralgia (each, 3.85%). These signs and symptoms were confusing for specific clinical picture of brucellosis. Brucellosis patients were successfully treated with a combination of Rifampicin 600 mg. once daily and Septrin 800 mg twice daily for 6 weeks. Cure was achieved clinically and serologically. Patients with toxoplasmosis or fascioliasis were also treated with Fasinex and Mirazid respectively. Other parasites were also treated.

Codeine is widely prescribed in clinical settings for the relief of pain and non-productive coughs. Common adverse drug reactions to codeine include
constipation
, euphoria, nausea, and drowsiness. However, there have been few reports of serious adverse reactions after codeine ingestion in adults. Here, we present a case of severe anaphylaxis after oral ingestion of a therapeutic dose of codeine. A 30-year-old Korean woman complained of the sudden onset of dyspnea,
urticaria
, chest tightness, and dizziness 10 minutes after taking a 10-mg dose of codeine to treat a chronic cough following a viral infection. She had previously experienced episodes of asthma exacerbation following upper respiratory infections, and had non-atopic rhinitis and a food allergy to seafood. A skin prick test showed a positive response to 1-10 mg/mL of codeine extract, with a mean wheal size of 3.5 mm, while negative results were obtained in 3 healthy adult controls. A basophil histamine release test showed a notable dose-dependent increase in histamine following serial incubations with codeine phosphate, while there were minimal changes in the healthy controls. Following a CYP2D6 genotype analysis, the patient was found to have the CYP2D6*1/*10 allele, indicating she was an intermediate metabolizer. An open label oral challenge test was positive. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of a patient presenting with severe anaphylaxis after the ingestion of a therapeutic dose of codeine, which may be mediated by the direct release of histamine by basophils following exposure to codeine.

Blastocystis is a human common enteric protist that may colonize a large variety of non-human hosts linked to symptoms and diseases such as abdominal pain,

, diarrhea,

, flatulence and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Blastocystis exhibits remarkable genetic diversity and multiple subtypes (STs) within the genus with no absolute associations with clinical symptomatology. Here we analyzed fecal samples from Argentinean patients (n=270) belonging to symptomatic (
urticaria
and non-specific gastrointestinal symptoms, n=39) and asymptomatic control (n=28). Those patients infected with Blastocystis (n=67) were submitted for morphological analysis, DNA extraction, 18S PCR, sequencing and STs identification according to DNA barcoding. Blastocystis vacuolar forms were the predominant morphotype (75%), ameboid-like forms were evidenced in 1.5% of samples. Blastocystis ST3 was detected in 71.6% (n=48), of which 71.4%, (n=35) and 28.6% (n=14) belonged to symptomatic and asymptomatic respectively. Other subtypes identified were ST1 (14.9%), ST6 (7.5%) and ST2 (5.9%). Blastocystis 18S barcoding evidenced in non-

Atopic dermatitis represents one of the most prevalent manifestations of atopy in children, which is distinguished by the early onset and high frequency of chronicity. The aim of this study was to study the clinical features of atopic dermatitis in early childhood and to evaluate comorbid conditions. The prospective research was conducted to study the cohort of 68 patients, who were developed the atopic dermatitis under 2 years of age. It was revealed, that the age of onset of the disease and the clinical severity was determined by the genetic predisposition on the mother's side. According to the clinical severity of the disease there were revealed the series of peculiarities especially in the case of moderate course: the high frequency of comorbid allergic pathology (rhinitis, conjunctivitis,
