A case of subperiosteal abscess associated with
acute sinusitis
is reported. The case is remarkable in that anaerobic organisms played a major role in the pathologic process. In addition, the unusual superolateral position of the abscess in the absence of any defect in the bony sinus walls suggests the hematogenous spread of the sinus infection. The use of Ct scanning proved to be essential in determining the true nature of the orbital pathology.
