Young adult rats exposed to a 1 hr feeding schedule in activity-wheel cages daily, show immunological incompetence and stomach ulcer. This stress procedure is called "activity-stress (AS)". The present study examined the effects of neurotropin (NSP), which is an extract from rabbit skin tissues inflamed with vaccinia virus, on the immunosuppression and stomach ulcer induced by AS. The i.p. treated NSP showed a significant immunopotentiation effect (50 and 100 mg/kg), but did not significantly prevent the ulceration, although i.p. treated NSP decreased the incidence of ulcer. The p.o. treated NSP revealed both immunopotentiation (50 and 100 mg/kg) and antiulcerogenic effects (100 mg/kg). However, the i.p. treatment of NSP seems to prevent atrophy of the thymus and spleen, but did not improve hypertrophy of the adrenals induced by AS. The p.o. treated NSP improved atrophy of the spleen and hypertrophy of the adrenals, but did not improve atrophy of the thymus. Since immunodeficiency and ulcer-production by AS are considered to be phenomena appearing in the exhaustion stage of the organism, the present study suggests that NSP can heal immunological incompetence and stomach-ulcer induced by stress. In addition, the present study discussed the different pharmacological activities of NSP based on differences between administration routes.

Patulous eustachian tube is a pathological condition which exists more often than we make a diagnosis, and a patient is not often aware of his disease. This disease can be manifested with various symptoms: respiratory synchrony noises in the ear, because of the penetration of the air current through the eustachian tube and with the movement of the eardrum outwards and inside, with autophony, reduction of the hearing, the buzzing, dizziness and disturbance of the balance. Two patients are presented. The first one was sick for many years from various chronics exhausted diseases: Jackson's epilepsy, temporary vascular brain disturbances, tuberculosis of lung, stomach ulcer, heart diseases, the patient is from low class, on one side, and also suffers from some local diseases: a paralysis of soft palate and palatal arcs, a chronic catarrhal rhinitis and sinusitis, a deviation of nasal dividing wall and hindered breathing through the nose, on the other side. Many years the patient didn't know for patological condition in the ears and in the eustachian tubes. After improving the hygienic conditions, the physical condition and local therapy, the patient felt much better. The second patient, with considerable shorter evolution of the disease and mild symptomatology, showed the amplified symptoms of the disease of the Eustachian tube in the course of the acute otitis. It is attained a satisfying calming of the manifestative symptoms by remedy therapie. Man must thing about possibility of the appearance of this pathology condition in various disease or conditions, which can take to the fast lost of the weight and physical and moral exhaustion of the patient, i.e. an adult, first as the protection of the appearance of the disease (condition) and afterwards, eventually early and regulary treatment in order to prevent various possible, above mentioned complications.

Features of free radical processes and their impact on the implementation of immunocompetent cells of their functions under conditions of peptic ulcer are insufficiently studied today. Reduced activity of catalase 1.7 and 3.4 times and that of glutathione peroxidise ~ 2.0 times, accordingly, were observed in both models of gastric ulceration (stress ulcer and ethanol one). Enzymatic activity of superoxide dismutase decreased 1.5 times and activity of glutathione transferase increased 1.8 times in the stress model in contrast to the ethanol model of stomach ulcer. Obtained results indicate the exhaustion of antioxidant system in rats' thymocytes under experi- mental ulcerogenesis. These data confirm complex negative effect of ulcer on the organism.
