We report a man in whom a 15 cm. renal tumor was excised at the age of 49. The pathological examination showed a clear cell carcinoma. Five years later, he presented with headache, vomiting and unilateral palpebral
ptosis
. Imaging studies showed a sellar tumor with pituitary apoplexy. The tumor was excised and the pathological study disclosed a clear cell tumor, positive for vimentin, cytokeratins
AE1
and AE3 and immunohistochemically negative for LH, TSH, ACTH and GH. Considering the similar histopathological features, it was considered as a metastasis of the renal tumor. The patient was supplemented with thyroid, adrenal and gonadal hormones. Seven years later, he presented a new tumor in the remaining kidney, that corresponded to a cystic papillary renal cell carcinoma. Afterwards, he presented a transitional urinary bladder tumor. Mortality associated to renal cell tumors is 90% at 5 years, and pituitary metastases are extraordinarily uncommon.

Tumors of dendritic reticulum cells are rare neoplasms that exhibit significant morphologic overlap with other malignancies. Fine-needle aspiration cytologic appearances of this neoplasm are not well understood. A 33-yr-old woman presented with a rapidly growing nodular mass in the right upper cervical region and right-sided
ptosis
. Fine-needle aspiration cytology of the mass showed dissociated as well as clustered, large, polygonal cells that showed high nuclear-cytoplasmic ratio. Nuclei were round, oval, or irregular in shape. Large and small blastoid forms with prominent nucleoli and chromatin clumping as well as binucleated cells and cells with lobulated nuclei were seen. Numerous mitoses were observed. The tumor cells expressed focal immunocytochemical reactivity to CD45 and CD68, but were negative for CD2, CD3, CD4, CD8, CD20, CD30, CD45RO, epithelial membrane antigen (EMA), cytokeratin, and HMB45. Histologic sections of the biopsy from the growth showed nodal tissue effaced by a tumor composed of large, pleomorphic neoplastic cells with some binucleate and multinucleate forms resembling Reed-Sternberg cells. The intervening stroma contained numerous small lymphocytes. Tumor cells expressed vimentin, S-100 protein, CD68, and MAC387, but were negative for LCA, CD1a, CD3, CD15, CD20, CD21, CD23, CD30, CD35, carcino-embryonic antigen, HMB45, cytokeratin
AE1
/3, EMA, myeloperoxidase, lysozyme, smooth-muscle actin, and desmin. The combined histologic and immunohistologic features suggested a histiocytic/dendritic reticulum cell neoplasm and a diagnosis of interdigitating dendritic reticulum cell sarcoma was made.

Endometrioid carcinoma is a common tumor of the female genital tract, mainly affecting the uterus corpus and ovary. In the fallopian tube, endometrioid carcinoma is relatively uncommon. The female adnexal tumor of probable wolffian origin (FATWO), although occasionally seen elsewhere, is most typically encountered in the broad ligament. Endometrioid carcinoma of the fallopian tube resembling FATWO is a rare type of endometrioid carcinoma, and only 20 cases have been reported to date. Here, we report a case of endometrioid carcinoma of the fallopian tube resembling FATWO and review the literature. A 67-year-old woman presented with a history of
prolapse
for about one month outside the vulva. Physical examination and pelvic ultrasonography of the patient revealed a streak mass covering the left ovary. A total hysterectomy and a bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy were performed. The tumor was confined to the tube and strongly resembled FATWO. Immunohistochemically, the tumor cells were positive for
AE1
/AE3, epithelial membrane antigen (EMA), and p16, but negative for CD10, inhibin-alpha, calretinin, vimentin, myogenin, and desmin, CD99,CgA, and Syn. We review the previously published cases of endometrioid carcinomas of the fallopian tube resembling FATWO, and discuss the principal differential diagnosis of the tumor in the fallopian tube.

A 39-year-old male without contributory medical history had sustained progressive double vision,
ptosis
, and trigeminal pain for 2 weeks. Physical examination revealed total ophthalmoplegia and visual field defect with normal blood examination and chest radiography. Cranial computed tomography revealed a hyperdense mass in the left frontotemporal fossae with bony erosion. Magnetic resonance imaging confirmed a broad-based, intensely enhanced extraaxial tumor of 4x4x4 cm diameter with dural tail sign. Cerebral angiography demonstrated insignificant blood supply both from the internal carotid and middle meningeal arteries. Nearly total tumor resection was achieved via orbitofrontotemporal craniotomy. Intraoperative findings revealed the extraaxial tumor with broad attachment to the dura mater and invasion to the optic and oculomotor nerves. Histological examination revealed hypercellular tumor with significant cell atypism, mitotic activity, and focal necrosis. Immunohistochemical staining was positive for
AE1
/3 and c-kit, but negative for glial fibrillary acidic protein. Systemic examination performed postoperatively revealed a thymic tumor without additional remote lesions. The final diagnosis was metastatic brain tumor from thymic carcinoma. Rapid progression of neurological impairment inconsistent with a benign extraaxial tumor needs prompt surgical intervention.
