It is presented a prospective study of vascular
nevus
during a year, with the finality to know its frequency, types and evolution. In twelve months of study, we founded in 1,485 borns that 14.14% presented those lesiones salmon stain 86%, oport wine 1.35%, capilar
hemangioma
or in strawberry the 10.81%, cavernous
hemangioma
the 0.45% and mixed
hemangioma
the 1.35%. Where more frequent in females that in males as well as from the urban zone in almost more than the half of the cases. Dimensions were between 0 to 5 cm. range, 98% in salmon stain, 95% in strawberry
hemangioma
, 66.3% mixed
hemangioma
, 66.6% in oport wine stain distributed in the head in more proportion. There was salmon stain in the nape in 61.7%, 15% in the forehead and in the superior eyelids 14.3%. The familiar antecedents of vascular
nevus
in brothers was of 4.76%, 5.71% in uncle, 2.98% in parents and 1.43% in grandparents. The evolution was not concluded because of desertion in almost the totality of patients, finalizing with only the 6.66%. Our findings are different from those published in the literature. The total frequency is more in our experience in salmon, oport wine stains and hemangiomas.

We describe a rare case of
nevus
pigmentovascularis, consisting of disseminated
nevus
spilus, mongolian-spot-like maculae, port-wine stains, bilateral
nevus
of Ota, and cavernous
hemangioma
. Although
nevus
pigmentovascularis is generally recognized as a congenital disease in Japan, we were unable to find a similar presentation of it in English textbooks on dermatology and plastic surgery.

A tunable pulsed dye laser emitting at 577 nm and 360 microseconds pulse width was used to treat benign cutaneous vascular ectasias other than port wine stain in 77 patients. Except for leg telangiectasias (34 patients), the overall response was excellent. Forty-two of forty-five patients with hemangiomas, spider
nevi
,
angioma
serpiginosum, venous lakes or facial telangiectasias showed excellent results after 1-4 consecutive treatments. Scarring was observed in none of the patients. These results confirm previous data on the use of the tunable dye laser in the treatment of port wine stain, and suggest that 577 nm wavelength and 360 microseconds pulse width allow the selective photothermolysis of vascular cutaneous ectasias with better clinical results than previously reported.

242 patients of ocular and facial
hemangioma
,
nevi
, papilloma, etc. were treated with liquid nitrogen cryotherapy which satisfactorily removed the neoplasms in 97.2% of the cases, leaving essentially no scars, and the rest (2.8%) were improved. Pathological examinations confirmed that the neoplasms had been necrotized. There were no relapses in 97.7% of the cases after a follow-up of over 5 years. The author's experience was summarized in 9 points for good results of the treatment.

A total of 900 consecutive newborns delivered at the Nehru Hospital, Chandigarh, India, over a period of 7 months were examined for presence of skin lesions within 48 hours of birth. Commonly observed skin lesions were Epstein pearls (88.7%), mongolian spots (62.2%), milia (34.9%), sebaceous hyperplasia (31.8%), salmon patches (28.4%), and erythema toxicum neonatorum (20.6%). These figures are comparable with earlier reports. Impetigo neonatorum occurred in 11.3% of infants, and was frequent in our hot and humid climate from May to August. Traumatic skin lesions were most often present in babies who had forceps deliveries. Three hundred ten (34%) babies were available for follow-up up to six weeks. Additional skin lesions observed were omphalitis (16 babies), oral thrush (9) and postinflammatory hypomelanosis (8). Three infants had atopic dermatitis, two each had seborrheic dermatitis, diaper dermatitis, pityriasis versicolor, and
nevus
achromicus. One each had vitiligo, ichthyosis vulgaris, urticaria, and strawberry
hemangioma
. These observations highlight the importance of repeat examination for the appearance of skin lesions during the neonatal period.

A typical eruptive capillary
hemangioma
developed at the margin of an argon laser-treated
nevus
flammeus. The relationship of argon laser-induced vascular reactions to eruptive capillary
hemangioma
is discussed.

We reported a female with vascular dementia due to chronic disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). The patient underwent operation for skin hemangiomas three times at age 18, 27, and 38. At age 43, she presented a slowly progressive dementia. She had bluish, compressive hemangiomas of skin and upper gastrointestinal tract, and she was suspected to have hemangiomas of brain, pleura, mediastinum, liver and pancreas. The hemangiomas were diagnosed blue-rubber-bleb-
nevus
syndrome (BRBNS). Laboratory data revealed persistent increase of serum FDP, FDP-D, FDP-E, and D-dimer. This condition was considered chronic DIC, therefore this case was the first case of combination of BRBNS and Kasabach-Merritt syndrome (chronic DIC). Brain MRI demonstrated bilateral lesions of paraventricular deep white matter and
hemangioma
of left temporal lobe. Because cerebral CT showed no contrast enhancement in paraventricular lesions, the lesions were considered multiple cerebral infarctions. Central nervous system (CNS)involvement in BRBNS is rare, and most cases of CNS involvement were associated with CNS angiomata. In this case it was suggested that brain was the target organ of DIC because thrombomodulin is absent or few in the human brain, therefore vascular dementia (multiple cerebral infarctions) developed due to chronic DIC.

1. Some birthmarks and acquired ocular-facial lesions indicate the presence of or potential to develop intraocular and/or systemic tumors. 2. Facial
nevus
flammeus is commonly associated with an ipsilateral diffuse choroidal
hemangioma
. 3. Ocular and oculodermal melanocytosis appear to be associated with an increased risk of ipsilateral primary intraocular malignant melanoma of the uveal tract. 4. Aniridia is occasionally associated with Wilms' tumor, a potentially fatal primary abdominal malignancy of children. If detected early, Wilms' tumor can offer be cured.

This review details the characteristic clinical features, diagnostic approaches, management, and prognosis of the choroidal osteoma. A comprehensive differential diagnosis is organized to help the ophthalmologist differentiate this tumor from conditions which can sometimes be clinically similar, such as amelanotic choroidal melanoma and
nevus
, metastatic choroidal carcinoma, choroidal
hemangioma
, metastatic and dystrophic intraocular calcification, and others. The pathology of the choroidal osteoma is illustrated and several theories of the pathogenesis of this tumor including the possibilities of a choristomatous, inflammatory, and hereditary etiology are discussed. The recently recommended therapeutic technique of photocoagulation of subretinal neovascularization associated with choroidal osteoma are discussed.
