Polycomb group proteins are implicated in embryogenesis and carcinogenesis through transcriptional regulation of target genes. ASXL1 and ASXL2 genes, encoding Polycomb group protein with ASXN and ASXM domains, are human homologs of Drosophila additional sex combs (asx) gene.
