A 71-year-old woman who had been treated with methotrexate (MTX) and prednisolone for rheumatoid arthritis since 2010 presented with hematuria.
Cystitis
was diagnosed. Chest and abdominal CT images revealed a bladder tumor, with lung and bilateral adrenal
metastases
. Transurethral resection of the bladder tumor (TUR-BT) confirmed these findings in September 2014. Histological findings of the bladder included large atypical lymphoid cells indicating diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. After TUR-BT, CT imaging showed that the tumor had shrunk. Still, MTX was continued. She was diagnosed with MTX-related lymphoproliferative disorders in November 2014 and MTX was discontinued. Fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography on March 2015 showed a complete response.

Multidisciplinary treatment for childhood urologic cancer has resulted in improved survival. However, the sucessful results may be marred by the appearance of therapy-related sequelae. Thus, radiation therapy has produced spine deformities (kyphosis and scoliosis), ovarian failure, renal disease and abnormalities in the skin, subcutaneous tissue, and muscle. Successful treatment of pulmonary
metastases
has been associated with abnormalities in pulmonary physiology and chest wall deformities. Chemotherapy-related complications include hemorrhagic
cystitis
and possible gonadal failure. If exenteration for bladder or prostate cancer is required, the sequelae are immediately apparent and include ureterosigmoidostomy, colostomy, or iliostomy. Oncogenic sequelae comprise benign and malignant neoplasms, and many of them appear to be radiation induced. Recognition of these sequelae has lead to changes in therapy to reduce or prevent their occurrence. However, despite innovative changes, long-term survivors still appear to be a risk for the development of late complications. The importance of continued surveillance is stressed.

The purpose of this study was to report the clinicopathological characteristics and treatment outcomes of 45 rectal cancer patients who have a history of cervical cancer with or without remote radiotherapy. Twenty-nine patients (64.4%) with a history of cervical cancer treated with pelvic radiotherapy were classified as group A, 16 (35.6%) patients with a history of cervical cancer not treated with radiotherapy were classified as group B. The median duration between radiotherapy for cervical cancer and rectal adenocarcinoma diagnosis was 18 years. At the time of rectal cancer diagnosis, 5 (17.2%) patients presented stage I disease, 15 (51.7%) had stage II, 1 (3.4%) had stage III, and 8 (27.6%) had stage IV. The patients in group A had older age, higher rates of gross ulcerative lesions, low hemoglobin levels, and a lower rate of lymph node
metastases
. The patients with secondary rectal cancer developed after radiotherapy for cervical cancer usually presented with abnormal abdominal symptoms, such as proctitis,
cystitis
, or rectal fistula. Higher colostomy rate was found in this group of patients due to severe pelvic fibrosis or proctitis.
