but Tropheryma whipplei was detected by polymerase chain reaction in muscle, blood, and duodenum specimens; this was confirmed by immunohistochemistry.
Ceftriaxone
led to clinical improvement. Although rare, Whipple's disease should be considered in the differential diagnosis of diffuse myopathy.
