The mosaicism 46,XX/46,XX,del(10)(p13)/47,XX, +r/47,XX,del(10)(p13), +r was found in the lymphocytes and the fibroblasts of a patient with the following : profound mental retardation; craniofacial dysmorphism with frontal bossing, fine eyebrows, a large hypoplastic nasal bridge, prognathism of the upper jaw, thick lips; a long and thin neck; congenital heart disease; skeletal malformations, with club feet; and
hypotonia
and lax ligaments. These malformations, compatible with the
trisomy 10p
syndrome, suggest that the supernumerary ring chromosome was composed of 10p material. An increase of HK1 and GOT1 activities was found. This is in favour of a partial trisomy of chromosome 10. The relative frequencies of the clones constituting the mosaic vary from tissue to tissue and with time.

It is reported on a boy of 4 years 9 months with trisomy of the distal part of the short arm of a chromosome 10, due to a balanced 7/10 translocation in the father. Besides multiple minor dysmorphias the patient showed severe mental retardation, small stature,
hypotonia
, retarded bone age. The high and bulky forehead was especially remarkable, because this sign has also been noted in formerly reported cases with
trisomy 10p
.

A 6-month-old boy with trisomy 10pter----q11 is reported. He presented facial dysmorphism very similar to that found on most other cases of
trisomy 10p
syndrome, dextrocardia, umbilical hernia,
hypotonia
and mental retardation. The chromosome anomaly was inherited by 3:1 segregation of a balanced maternal translocation, t(10qter----q11 ::14p11----qter).
