Amyloidoma
primarily involving bone and lymph node is described in a 60-year-old male patient. The patient had pathologic fractures of both hips through a deposit of amyloid in the neck of the femur. The prolonged insidious course of the disease was uncomplicated by hypercalcemia, hematologic abnormalities, or renal failure so characteristic of untreated
myeloma
. The bone marrow contained less than 10 percent plasma cells in different stages of maturity. Radionuclide bone scanning demonstrated other osseous amyloid lesions that were not detected by routine radiologic examination. This is the first reported case of pathologic fractures of both hips secondary to amyloidoma.

We report a case with protruding inguinal masses for 6 months, in whom muscular amyloidoma was not suspected before muscle biopsy. On pelvic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), round masses showing peripheral rim enhancement with gadolinium were observed in iliopsoas and iliacus muscles of both inguinal areas. The same lesions were also observed in gluteus muscles. The biopsy showed Congo red positive materials in a dense fibrous background. Serum and urine electrophoresis showed Bence Jones protein, lambda type. In bone marrow section,
myeloma
cells were found. Peripheral blood stem cell transplantation (PBSCT) following four cycles of VAD (vincristine, adriamycin, dexamethasone) chemotherapy was performed and the result was satisfactory.
Amyloidoma
lesions decreased in size and number on the following MRI.

We report a case of a spontaneous hip fracture in a context of dysglobulinemia. The bone histologic examination found amyloidoma.
Amyloidoma
is an overload pathology and an unusual cause of fracture. In most of the cases, it is associated with
myeloma
and the difference between bone invasion of
myeloma
and amyloidoma in an osteolytic radiographic picture is not easy but is of importance because prognosis and treatment may be totally different. Thus, in the context of dysglobulinemia, one must keep in mind that spontaneous bone fracture may be due to amyloidoma with another prognosis.
