Chronic nodular disseminated aspergillosis caused the death of a 9-month-old mynah bird (Gracula religiosa intermedia). The disease was diagnosed at postmortem examination, although it was suspected in the terminal state. It was unresponsive to various antibiotics and sulfonamides. Clinical signs consisted of feather ruffling, anorexia, weight loss, episodes of diarrhea, and finally orthopnea, dyspnea, and severe lethargy. Terminally there was right hemiparesis involving the right upper lid and right leg. Principal pathologic findings consisted of yellow-whitish nodules involving the lungs, granulomatous dissemination to the liver and kidneys, transgression of the inflammatory process, with formation of subcutaneous nodules in the pectoral muscles, and destruction of the ribs. The granulomatous process was characterized by marked chronic fibrous reaction.
