The
B2-bradykinin receptor gene
has been proposed as one of the candidate genes involved in the complex genetic underpinnings of common chronic disorders such as
hypertension
, ischemic heart disease or allergic asthma. Suitable genetic markers are needed to study these hypotheses. Therefore, it was our aim to identify polymorphic sites in the B2-receptor gene. Up to now, we characterized four polymorphisms: one in the promoter region and three other ones in each of the exons. Possible biological consequences are delineated and preliminary results of allele specific different biological action are shown.
