Small bowel obstruction
caused by an internal
hernia
involving the sigmoid mesocolon is rare, and this condition is difficult to diagnose clinically. We herein report a case of small bowel obstruction due to an intramesosigmoid
hernia
that was diagnosed by a 64-row multidetector computed tomography and surgically treated.

Small bowel obstruction
(SBO) is a common entity encountered in surgical patients. The most common causes of the SBO range from postoperative adhesions to cancer. We present the case of a 55-year-old male who underwent a laparoscopic left radical nephrectomy and presented with an early SBO. An imaging study revealed an obstructive pattern with proximal dilated jejunum with decompressed distal small bowel. The patient underwent an exploratory laparotomy with extensive lysis of adhesions and release/resection of a long segment of incarcerated jejunum from an 8-cm retroperitoneal
hernia
in the left renal fossa. The patient was discharged home, and at 3-month follow-up no bowel complaints were reported.

Small bowel obstruction
is a complication of laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGB) frequently caused by adhesions and internal
hernia
. In addition, anastomotic leak that complicates LRYGB surgery contributes to the mortality of this procedure. Fibrin glue is commonly used intraoperatively for prevention of anastomotic leak and to secure hemostasis. We describe 2 cases of morbidly obese women who underwent LRYGB surgery for weight loss and developed early postoperative small bowel obstruction related to the use of the "EVICEL" fibrin sealant. Of note is that both patients required surgical intervention for this complication.

Reduction 'en masse' of inguinal hernia is a rare entity defined as manual reduction of an external
hernia
sac back through the abdominal wall but where its content still remains incarcerated or strangulated into a displaced position, most often in the pre-peritoneal space.
Small bowel obstruction
habitually follows requiring urgent repair, preferentially via a trans-abdominal approach. Pre-operative clinical diagnosis is difficult and abdominal CT-scan imaging is the investigation of choice.

Obturator
hernia
is a rare pelvic
hernia
that occurs primarily in multiparous, elderly (>70 years of age), thin females. This case highlights the successful laparoscopic mesh repair of an incarcerated obturator
hernia
in an octogenarian. The authors report a case of an incarcerated obturator
hernia
in an elderly female with subsequent high-grade small bowel and its successful laparoscopic operative management. A review of the relevant literature was also performed following a search on the online literature databases such as PUBMED and EMBASE. Laparoscopic mesh repair of the incarcerated obturator
hernia
and an ipsilateral femoral
hernia
found incidentally was successfully performed. A review of the literature showed a significant burden of morbidity and mortality associated with obturator hernias. Laparoscopic mesh repair has been previously shown to be a safe therapeutic modality.
Small bowel obstruction
and leg pain in a thin elderly lady should arouse suspicion for an incarcerated obturator
hernia
. Laparoscopic management of an incarcerated obturator
hernia
is a feasible and safe therapeutic option.

Small bowel obstruction
(SBO) is a very rare complication post-caesarean section (CS).
Herniation
of small bowel through the rectus muscle with an intact sheath is extremely rare. We present a case of SBO after an uncomplicated c-section and an uneventful early postoperative course.

Small bowel obstruction
is a common clinical problem presenting with abdominal distention, colicky pain, absolute constipation and bilious vomiting. There are numerous causes, most commonly attributed to an incarcerated
hernia
, adhesions or obstructing mass secondary to malignancy. Here we present an unusual cause of a small bowel obstruction secondary to an incarcerated incisional
hernia
in association with an acute organoaxial gastric volvulus.

Although many people have Meckel's diverticulum, only some experience any symptoms, most under the age of 10. In adults it is usually asymptomatic but approximately 4% develop complications. Meckel's diverticulum is usually diagnosed in the first years of life and after that the risk of the complications decreases with increasing age, with no predictive factors for the development of complications. We describe the case of a 34-year-old man admitted in the emergency department with diffuse abdominal pain, nausea, flatulence and lack of transit for feces and gas. The patient had been previously operated for peritonitis due to a perforated ulcer. Clinical examination and paraclinical investigations (abdominal radiography and ultrasound) suggested the diagnosis of intestinal obstruction, probably produced by adhesions due to previous abdominal intervention. The diverticulum was resected using a linear stapler and the patient recovered without any complications.
Small bowel obstruction
due to Meckel's diverticulitis may be caused by entangled loop of small bowel around a fibrous cord, intussusception, volvulus, or incarceration within a
hernia
sac. The discovery of a Meckel's diverticulum complication in a mid thirties patient represented an intra-operatory surprise and is the peculiarity of the case.

Small bowel obstruction
is a clinical condition commonly caused by postoperative adhesion, volvulus, intussusceptions, and

Small bowel obstruction
due to bezoars is clinically uncommon, accounting for approximately 2-4% of all obstructions. Computed tomography (CT) is a useful method in diagnosing the cause of small bowel obstruction. However, small bowel obstruction caused by bezoars may not be detected by an abdominal CT examination. Herein, we report a rare case of small bowel obstruction by Aloe vera bezoars, which were undetected by an abdominal CT. Phytobezoars should be included in the differential diagnosis of small bowel obstruction in patients with predisposing factors, such as excessive consumption of high-fiber food and diabetes.

Introduction:
Small bowel obstruction
(SBO) is a common presentation to emergency abdominal surgery. The most frequent causes of SBO are congenital, postoperative adhesions, abdominal wall
hernia
, internal
hernia
and malignancy.
Patients:
A 27-year-old woman was hospitalized because of acute abdominal pain, blockage of gases and stools associated with vomiting. Abdominal computed tomography showed an acute small bowel obstruction without any obvious etiology. In view of important abdominal pain and the lack of clear diagnosis, an explorative laparoscopy was performed. Diagnostic of pelvic inflammatory disease was established and was comforted by positive PCR for
Chlamydia Trachomatis
.
Results:
Acute small bowel obstruction resulting from acute pelvic inflammatory disease, emerging early after infection, without any clinical or X-ray obvious signs was not described in the literature yet. This infrequent acute SBO etiology but must be searched especially when there is no other evident cause of obstruction in female patients. Early laparoscopy is mostly advised when there are some worrying clinical or CT scan signs.
