A biophysical method for assessment of hemoperfusion and intensive care efficacy in patients with endogenous intoxication syndrome is suggested. Endotoxicosis developed because of sepsis in 31 patients, because of acute hepatic insufficiency due to cholestasis, hepatitis, or mechanical jaundice in 12. Blood magnetic susceptibility was studied by Gui's method. The findings indicate that changes in blood magnetic susceptibility correlate with changes in medium-molecule level and leukocytic index of intoxication. The suggested method helps detect endotoxicosis whatever the pattern of its development and permits assessment of therapy efficacy.
