Lymphangiomyomatosis was first reported more than forty years ago. Although its incidence is rare, its occurrence is being increasingly recognized and has been the subject of a growing number of cases reports in recent years. This study adds 2 more cases to the file. Both cases involved young women with the characteristic symptoms of dyspnea, cough, abdominal discomfort and swelling, chest pain, and hemoptysis, with abundant formation of refractory chylous, serous ascites. Although the progression of the disease differed in each case, pulmonary function was affected in a similar way by the presence of obstructive and restrictive defects and a decrease in diffusing capacity. Underlying abnormalities were dilated lymphatics, thickened lymphatic walls, and muscular proliferation of leiomyomatous origin, leading to bronchial restriction. The authors point to the subtlety required in arriving at a differentiated diagnosis of lymphangiomyomatosis lymphangioleiomyomatosis and the difference between the two conditions. They also make particular recommendations in respect to the importance of preliminary hormone receptor tests and to the wisdom to be exercised in ligating a main lymphatic duct in the chest to control the formation of ascites. Pneumothorax, a frequent manifestation of lymphangiomyomatosis, is found to be the result of chronic air trapping due to a combination of narrowing of conducting airways and disruption of normal lung parenchyma.

A 19-year-old man presented to the emergency department with a chief complaint of generalized body rash for two weeks. The rash began shortly after he initiated penicillin therapy for a sore throat diagnosed one week previously. He also complained of having dark urine and abdominal discomfort. His urinalysis revealed proteinuria and hematuria, and he was admitted for further evaluation and management. While in the hospital, he had an episode of hemoptysis. A renal biopsy was performed and revealed IgA deposition. In light of his systemic symptoms including rash and abdominal pain, he was diagnosed with Henoch-Schonlein purpura (HSP).

The pulmonary artery is the second most common site of arterial involvement in Behcet's disease. A 32-year-old man presented with bilateral ankle edema, abdominal discomfort, and hemoptysis. He had a history of recurrent oral and genital aphthous ulcerations for 1 year. The diagnosis of Behcet's disease was made on the basis of the criteria published by the International Study Group for Behcet's Disease. His chest X-ray revealed left hilar enlargement. A helical computed tomography (CT) scan showed a pulmonary aneurysm with intramural thrombosis in the left pulmonary artery and enlarged hepatic veins. Treatment with colchicine and cyclophosphamide was given for 24 months, and helical thoracic CT was performed again. Helical CT showed that the pulmonary aneurysm was reduced by treatment. Helical CT could be used in Behcet's disease for the diagnosis and follow-up of pulmonary involvement.

Hydatid disease is a considerable health problem worldwide. Two case reports of relatively uncommon presentations of the disease are presented. The first case is that of a 25 years old female from region of Afghanistan that borders Pakistan's Baluchistan province. She presented with cough, hemoptysis and left hypochondrium pain due to concurrent involvement of the right lung and the spleen due to hydatid disease, whilst sparing the liver. The second case is that of a 32 years male from the same region of Afghanistan as above. He presented with upper abdominal discomfort, postprandial vomiting and jaundice due to a hydatid cyst involving the head of the pancreas only.
