Alpha thalassemia minor trait is but one of numerous hemoglobinopathies. In this condition, it is generally conceded that there are no clinical symptoms. A case is reported in which all the laboratory criteria for the presence of this disease were found, accompanied by clinical signs of pronounced anterior maxillary protrusion, severe generalized alveolar bone loss, and an area of radiodensity resembling that found in infarcted bone in other hemoglobinopathies.
