A 50-year-old man, who had undergone operation of esophageal carcinoma 2 years earlier, was admitted with the complaints of right
flank pain
and macroscopic hematuria. Intravenous urogram showed right unvisualized kidney. Right retrograde pyelography showed the dilatation of calices and irregularity of middle and lower calices. Computed tomography revealed severe hydronephrosis of the right kidney. Right nephrectomy was performed under the diagnosis of either renal pelvic cancer or
esophageal cancer
metastatic to the kidney. Pathological examination revealed metastatic squamous cell carcinoma from esophagus. The patient was treated by radiotherapy but died 4 months after the surgical treatment. Literature on eight case of metastatic renal cancer from esophagus is reviewed.

We report 2 cases of
esophageal cancer
metastatic to the kidney. The first case was in a 57-year-old man who complained of severe right
flank pain
. He had underwent an operation for
esophageal cancer
2 months previously. A computerized tomography (CT) scan revealed a wedge-shaped, low-density mass in the right kidney. Right nephrectomy revealed squamous cell carcinoma. He has remained free of recurrence 3 months postoperatively. The second case was in a 57-year-old man with
esophageal cancer
treated by radiation therapy. Severe right
flank pain
and gross hematuria appeared after 1 year. A CT scan showed a wedge-shaped, low-density tumor in the right kidney accompanied with a tumor thrombus in the inferior vena cava. Right nephrectomy as well as resection of the thrombus were performed. Pathological diagnosis was squamous cell carcinoma. He died of cancer 2 months postoperatively.

We report a case of acute focal bacterial nephritis(AFBN)as a complication of chemotherapy in
esophageal cancer
patient. A 54-year-old woman underwent thoracoscopic esophagectomy for thoracic
esophageal cancer
. The final pathological diagnosis was a squamous cell carcinoma, pT1b, N2(No. 110), M0, pStage II . She received adjuvant chemotherapy with docetaxel, CDDP and 5-FU(mDCF)in our hospital from February, 2016. There was no complication in first course. She visited our hospital with complaints of a fever and right
flank pain
on the 22 nd day after second course of chemotherapy. There was a severe inflammation reaction in the laboratory test. An enhanced CT revealed swelling and partial low density area in the right kidney. Therefore, we diagnosed AFBN, and administrated antibiotic levofloxacin for 16 days. Her symptom improved immediately, and renal function was normal when followed up 10 months later.
