The author examined 3 groups of persons; normal ones, therapeutic patients and patients with chronic recurrent neuroinfections (encephalitis, cerebral arachnoiditis, encephalomyelitis). It is concluded that the use of the modified method for revealing the symptoms of anterior and posterior ophthalmoparesis in the determination of the focus of injury and objective evaluation of exacerbation of the neurologic infectious process is of diagnostic value.

As many as 120 patients with different nosological forms of neuroinfections (encephalitis, encephalomyelitis, chorioependymitis and cerebral arachnoiditis) associated with allergic disturbances were examined by clinical and immunological methods. In addition to the common measurements of the relative and absolute content of T, B and 0 cells, cerebral antibodies and circulating immune complexes, the degree of the T component deficiency was calculated as compared to that in healthy persons as were intercellular and populational relations, which characterized individual immune responsiveness. It has been discovered that the populational relations undergo changes in initial manifestations of immune deficiency, becoming more remarkable as the pathological process progresses. The authors point to the necessity of analyzing the immunogram in patients placed under observation with a purpose of early diagnosis of immune imbalance that arises, and of defining the leading immunopathological mechanism to carry out more adequate and goal-oriented correction of immune disorders.

A patient with atypical manifestations of Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) encephalomyelitis is presented. The patient had unusual spinal fluid immunoglobulin abnormalities, the syndrome of inappropriate anti-diuretic hormone secretion, autonomic dysfunction and spinal arachnoiditis. The cisternal CSF, with a very high IgG level (34.3 mg/dl; normal less than 6.1) but a normal albumin content, displayed evidence of massive intrathecal immunoglobulin production. This was further confirmed by the presence of oligoclonal bands. These clinical manifestations have not previously been reported in encephalomyelitis associated with EBV infection.

The technology of obtaining of specific immunoglobulin for serotherapy of neuroinfection caused by virus herpes simplex 1 type was developed. The patients presented with the following diseases: arachnoencephalitis, encephalopolyradiculoneuritis, encephalomyelitis, encephalitis, arachnoiditis, polyneuropathy, encephalomyelopolyradiculoneuritis, meningoencephalitis. The study showed good tolerance and safety of the medicine, no adverse effects registered during the study. The assessed median score of the efficacy was 2.8 from 3. The obtained results suggest using the liquid form preparation for intramuscular injection "Immunoglobulin for treatment of neuroinfection caused by virus herpes simplex type 1". The Close corporation "Biofarma" located in Kyiv produces this medicine.
