A 19-year-old man had an unexplained fever,
dizziness
, headache, fatigue, and
pain in the scrotum
. An FDG PET/CT imaging was acquired to assess fever of unknown origin. The images showed multiple foci of increased FDG activity in the enlarged lymph nodes in the body. In addition, mildly increased activity in the enlarged spleen and lung bases was also noted. The patient was eventually diagnosed with scrub typhus based on positive results of the Weil-Felix agglutination test, eschar in the scrotum, and effective therapy.
