Liposarcoma
of the mediastinum is a rare disease. A 59 year old woman was seen with the complaint of
dizziness
. A chest radiogram taken during the course of investigation for hypertension revealed a large mass shadow 24 X 18.5 X 12 cm located in the anterior mediastinum. The tumor of the mediastinum was diagnosed as a benign lipoma when it was first resected, but subsequently proved to be a
liposarcoma
when it re-appeared 2 years and 10 month later. Based on the WHO classification, the mixed type of
liposarcoma
was diagnosed. The salient and pathological features of mediastinal
liposarcoma
are reviewed and compared with those nine cases reported in Japan and fifty in North America and European countries. Treatment by simple enucleation or shelling out of the tumor should be discouraged, since this seems to be the main cause of local recurrence. Surgical wide en bloc excision is the treatment of choice.

This is the third case report of
liposarcoma
of the temporal bone. A 69-year-old man complained of left otalgia, left otorrhea, and
dizziness
for several months, with a past history of tympanoplasty for cholesteatoma 28 years previously. Otoscopy revealed debris in the attic. We performed tympanoplasty for recurrent cholesteatoma. The postoperative pathological diagnosis was well-differentiated
liposarcoma
. Palliative resection of
liposarcoma
was performed 3 months after the first surgery. Neither local recurrence nor distant metastasis has been detected for 24 months after the first surgery. The favorable outcome in this patient was probably due to the histological type of his
liposarcoma
.

The author reports a case of a 64-year-old man, who presented with a 4-week history of dyspnoea and
dizziness
suffering from a large mass in the pericardium. CT of the chest showed a lobulated mass in the pericardial sac located between the pulmonary veins and the ascending aorta reaching the superior vena cava. The tumour was completely resected and histopathological analysis revealed the tumour to be a well-differentiated lipoma-like and focal sclerosing
liposarcoma
, which was composed predominantly of adipocytes with hyperchromatic nuclei and eosinophilic-to-vacuolated cytoplasm disrupted by fibrous septa. Two years after initial tumour diagnosis the patient is still alive without signs of tumour recurrence.

Paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration (PCD) is one of the most common paraneoplastic neurological syndromes characterized by the rapid development of severe cerebellar ataxia. In this report, a 23-year-old female with noticeable
dizziness
and gait instability was described. The enhanced CT scanning suggested the presence of a pelvic tumor. Then, PCD was established. Postoperative pathological result defined it as a
liposarcoma
(LS) with dedifferentiation. Interestingly, clinical symptoms disappeared after the surgical removal of the pelvic tumor. To our knowledge, this was the first case report with PCD due to LS.
