and PACAP decrease lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced interleukin-6 (IL-6) production, neutrophil infiltration and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1), and fibrinogen expression through PAC1 receptor, providing an advantage to design more specific drugs complementing standard intensive care therapy in septic shock.
