A 63-year-old woman was diagnosed with pleural and mediastinal lymph node metastases 116 months after operation because of bilateral breast cancer. She was then treated with fadrozole hydrochloride (FH) (2 mg). Adriamycin (30 mg) administration into the pleural cavity was attempted, but did not prove effective. Thus, we tried to combine FH with cyclophosphamide (100 mg). After one month, chemoendocrine therapy relieved her complaints of
cough
and shortness of breath. CT revealed a remarkable decrease of pleural effusion and disappearance of mediastinal lymph nodes. She was alive 9 months after the treatment.
Fadrozole hydrochloride
in combination with cyclophosphamide is promising as an effective treatment in postmenopausal patients.
