A health survey of 2,039 persons in 606 households located near the Stringfellow Hazardous Waste Disposal site, Riverside County, California, and in a reference community was conducted to assess whether rates of adverse health outcomes were elevated among persons living near the site. Data included a household questionnaire, medical records of reported cancers and pregnancies, and birth and death certificates. The study areas appeared similar with respect to mortality, cancer incidence, and pregnancy outcomes. In contrast, rate ratios were greater than 1.5 for 5 of 19 reported diseases, i.e., ear infections, bronchitis, asthma, angina pectoris, and skin rashes. Prevalence odds ratios for 23 symptoms were uniformly greater than 1.0, and 8 symptoms had odds ratios greater than 1.5: blurred vision, pain in ears, daily
cough
for more than a month, nausea, frequent diarrhea, unsteady when walking, and
frequent urination
. The apparent broad-based elevation in reported diseases and symptoms may reflect increased perception or recall of conditions by respondents living near the site. These results indicate that future community-based health studies should include medical and psychosocial assessment instruments sufficient to distinguish between changes in health status and effects of resident reporting tendency.

Two women, aged 50 and 45 years, had a chronic process in the lower abdomen. The first presented with
cough
and progressive dyspnoea, and her chest X-ray raised the suspicion of a metastasis of a malignancy. The second patient had abdominal pain,
frequent urination
and irregular vaginal bleeding. She was initially treated for a urinary-tract infection. Diagnostic investigations showed pelvic actinomycosis in both patients. Both had used an intrauterine device (IUD). In the first patient a pelvic abscess was drained. Antimicrobial treatment consisted of penicillin i.v. for several weeks and orally for 6 months. Actinomycosis is a slowly progressive bacterial infection that characteristically expands through anatomic structures and can lead to fistulae and abscesses. The disease is caused by Actinomyces species. Diagnosis is often delayed because other diseases (e.g. malignancy) are considered more probable. Actinomycosis is associated with prolonged use of an IUD, but it is rare and removal of the IUD is not indicated unless symptoms of pelvic inflammatory disease are present. The mainstay of actinomycosis therapy is administration of an effective antibiotic (e.g. penicillin). Except for drainage of abscesses, surgical intervention is rarely necessary. When antimicrobial therapy is continued for 6-9 months, prognosis is favourable, as was the case in both patients.

There are many causes of
frequent urination
. Whenever water or fluids are consumed, the patient has to urinate within 10 or 20 min. Often urinary bladder examinations & blood tests show no significant abnormalities, & treatment by anti-bacterial or anti-viral agents does not improve the symptoms significantly. In intractable
frequent urination
with difficulty holding urine, as well as other intractable medical problems such as frequent
coughing
, white pus in gingiva, infection of the apex of a root canalled tooth, slow-healing wounds, & ALS, the authors often found coexisting mixed infections of Candida albicans (C.A.), Helicobacter pylori (H.P.), & Cytomegalovirus (CMV) with or without additional bacterial (Chlamydia trachomatis, etc.) or viral infections & increased Asbestos, with or without Hg deposits. We often found various degrees of mixed infections with C.A., H.P., & CMV in the external sphincters of the urethra & in the Trigone of the urinary bladder which consists of (1) a horizontal, band-like area between the 2 ureter openings & (2) the funnel shaped part of the Trigone at the lower half of the urinary bladder. In the coexistence of significant amounts of C.A., H.P. & CMV, the infection cannot be reduced by otherwise effective medicines for H.P. & CMV. However, one optimal dose of Diflucan, or Caprylic acid taken orally or externally applied, rapidly reduced the symptoms significantly. We found the best treatment is to give a combination of an optimal dose of Caprylic acid orally in the form of "CaprilyCare" or "Caprylic Acid," with a capsule of Omega-3 Fish Oil as an anti-viral agent, Amoxicillin, Substance Z & a Cilantro tablet. We found that an optimal dose of Caprylic acid increases normal cell telomere (NCT) to a desirable 750 ng BDORT units while Diflucan increases NCT by only 25 ng BDORT units, & with Omega-3 fish oil, leads to a mutual cancellation of both drugs. Thus, Caprylic acid is superior to & less expensive than Diflucan, & has potential application for anti-cancer, anti-aging, anti-Alzheimer's disease, anti-Autism, anti-infection, & general circulatory improvement.
