139 cases of tubal pregnancy were analyzed from different points of view over a 10-year period. The ratio of tubal abortion to tubal rupture, both as a result of tubal pregnancy, was determined in this sample at 1:1. Between abortion and rupture a clear difference in time lapse was found from the last regular menstruation to the culmination of the specific symptom. The average age of the patients studied was 28 years. 40% were nulliparae, 10% had been operated on for a previous extrauterine pregnancy. From the histories of these patients it was revealed that 14% had previously had adnexitis, although genital tuberculosis is considered to play a subordinate role. 4 cases in which an IUD was present were observed. In 45 cases, the tubal pregnancy was accompanied by appendicitis, although in no cases was the right tube found to be obstructed.

The authors performed 20 laparoscopies in patients previously submitted to abdominal surgery, in whom after clinical evaluation by the medical staff, the existence of intra-abdominal affection was still questioned. In this study group 14 patients exhibited more than 19 days old former abdominal incisions while in six patients they were recent ones. The incisions were median and para-median, McBurney incisions and Pfannenstiel incisions; one patient had been previously submitted to laparoscopy. The laparoscopic findings were hemoperitoneum, encapsulating peritonitis, ascites, subphrenic abscess, acute adnexitis, acute traumatic pancreatitis, genital tuberculosis, acute cholecystitis and one case of peritonitis due to a hollow viscus perforation by a fish bone. In one patient presenting encapsulating peritonitis the laparoscopic examination was complicated by a hollow viscus perforation.

Uropathogens, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Treponema pallidum, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasma spp., Haemophilus ducreyi, Calymmatobacterium granulomatis, Gardnerella vaginalis, anaerobic bacteria, Herpes simplex virus type II (HSV II), papillomaviruses (HPV), Trichomonas vaginalis and Candida spp. must be considered. The various diagnostic procedures and criteria applied for aetiological classification in cases of balanitis, urethritis, prostatitis, epididymitis, orchitis, and acute urethral syndrome are reviewed and evaluated.
