Constipation is an extremely common problem in children, varying from mild and short-lived to severe and chronic. Chronic constipation is a serious childhood condition and requires further investigation, including blood test, colonoscopy, radio-opaque marker study, and/or scintigraphy. We present small bowel and colon transit scintigraphy of a 14-year-old girl with history of chronic constipation, abdominal pain, weight loss, and poor response to medical treatment. After oral administration of In-DTPA in water, planar and SPECT/CT images showed normal small bowel transit time and functional fecal retention in colon transit study.

Primary hepatic angiosarcoma is the most common malignant mesenchymal tumor of the liver. It has a poor prognosis and various appearances on magnetic resonance (MR) images. We report a case of hepatic angiosarcoma with a characteristic appearance on gadolinium-ethoxybenzyl-diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid (Gd-EOB-DTPA)-enhanced MR imaging in the hepatobiliary phase. A 72-year-old man was admitted with a complaint of abdominal pain. Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced MR imaging revealed a liver tumor that showed slight hyperintensity in the hepatobiliary phase. These findings suggested Gd-EOB-DTPA uptake in the tumor. An autopsy revealed the solid proliferation and sinusoidal spreading of hepatic angiosarcoma cells. Immunohistochemistry indicated that the tumor was negative for OATP1B3. Gd-EOB-DTPA uptake in the liver tumor in the hepatobiliary phase suggested sinusoidal tumor invasion with residual normal hepatocytes.

Retroperitoneal liposarcoma is usually large and can press on other organs. We report a case of a 66-year-old woman with a history of retroperitoneal liposarcoma resection who presented to the emergency department with abdominal pain. Ultrasonography revealed a large abdominal mass with renal displacement. Dynamic renal scintigraphy with Tc-DTPA was conducted to evaluate renal function. However, severe impairment of the right kidney function and abnormal tracer accumulation were observed during the examination. SPECT/CT was performed; 2 kidneys were successfully localized, and the recurrence of tumor was correctly detected.
