Chlorinated bisphenol antibacterial and antifungal agents are potent inhibitors of torula yeast glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD). Several compounds were tested, including hexachlorophene [
HCP
; 2,2'-methylenebis(3,4,6-trichlorophenol)]; 2,2'-oxybis(tetrachlorophenol); 2',4-dihydroxy-2,3,3',5,5',6-hexachlorodiphenylmethane; 2,2'-methylenebis(3,4-dichlorophenol) (3,4-TCP); bithionol [2,2'-thiobis(4,6-dichlorophenol)]; 2,2'-methylenebis(3,5-dichlorophenol); 2,2'-dihydroxy-3,3',5,6,6'-pentachlorodiphenylmethane; 2,2'-methylenebis(4-chlorophenol) (
DCP
); 2,2'-methylenebis(4,6-dichlorophenol); and the related uncoupler 2,4-dinitrophenol. The relative inhibitory activity of the chlorinated bisphenols tended to increase with degree of chlorination of the aromatic rings. the concentrations of the bisphenols that caused 50% inhibition ranged from 2.5 micrometers for 2,2'-oxybis(tetrachlorophenol) to 40 micrometers for 2,2'-methylenebis(4,6-dichlorophenol) under comparable assay conditions. More detailed kinetic analysis showed that, as with
HCP
, the inhibition of G6PD by 3,4-TCP and
DCP
followed noncompetitive kinetics. Calculations from the kinetic data gave apparent inhibition constant (Ki) values for 3,4-TCP of 267 micrometers with G6P and 308 micrometers with NADP, and for
DCP
of 697 micrometers with both G6P and NADP.

The submillimeter-wave rotational spectra of the unstable phosphorus-bearing molecules HCCCP (phosphabutadiyne) and NCCP (C-cyanophosphaethyne) have been investigated in selected frequency regions between 490 and 815 GHz using the Cologne Terahertz Spectrometer. Both molecules were studied in their ground vibrational states. Additionally, vibrational satellites within the bending states v(4) = 1 and v(5) = 1 were recorded for NCCP. Furthermore, the ground state rotational spectra of the (13)C and (15)N isotopomers of NCCP were detected in natural abundance. The new measurements allowed us to evaluate the sextic centrifugal distortion constants for each isotopomer and vibrational state investigated. The pyrolysis reactions, through which HCCCP and NCCP were produced in situ, also yielded phosphaethyne,

Laser-induced fluorescence spectra of jet-cooled
HCP
(+) and
DCP
(+) have been obtained with the pulsed discharge technique using HCPDCP and argon precursor mixtures. Transitions involving all of the excited state vibrations have been observed and a set of vibrational constants has been obtained. High-resolution spectra of the (2)Pi(32) components of the 0(0) (0) bands of both isotopomers have been recorded, and these spectra show resolved phosphorus hyperfine structure which allowed the determination of the excited state Fermi contact parameter. The B values were used to obtain the ground and excited state effective geometric parameters as r(0) (")(CH)=1.077(2) A, r(0) (")(CP)=1.6013(3) A, r(0) (')(CH)=1.082(2) A, and r(0) (')(CP)=1.5331(3) A. A Renner-Teller analysis of the ground state vibrational energy levels obtained from the literature was attempted. All of the observed levels of
DCP
(+) and the majority of those of
HCP
(+) were satisfactorily fitted with a standard Renner-Teller model, but three
HCP
(+) levels showed large systematic deviations which could not be accommodated by reassignments or improvements in the Fermi resonance Hamiltonian. Further improvements in the theory or in the experimental data will be needed to resolve this discrepancy.

The dynamic potentials of highly excited vibrational states of deuterated phosphaethyne (
DCP
) in the D-C and C-P stretching coordinates with anharmonicity and Fermi coupling are studied in this article and the results show that the D-C-P bending vibration mode has weak effects on D-C and C-P stretching modes under different Polyad numbers (P number). Furthermore, the dynamic potentials and the corresponding phase space trajectories of
DCP
are given, as an example, in the case of P = 30. In the end, a comparative study between deuterated phosphaethyne (
DCP
) and phosphaethyne (
HCP
) with dynamic potential is done, and it is elucidated that the uncoupled mode makes the original horizontal reversed symmetry breaking between the dynamic potential of
HCP

Objective:
The development of these updated clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) was commissioned by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE), The Obesity Society, American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, Obesity Medicine Association, and American Society of Anesthesiologists Boards of Directors in adherence with the AACE 2017 protocol for standardized production of CPGs, algorithms, and checklists.
Methods:
Each recommendation was evaluated and updated based on new evidence from 2013 to the present and subjective factors provided by experts.
Results:
New or updated topics in this CPG include: contextualization in an adiposity-based chronic disease complications-centric model, nuance-based and algorithm/checklist-assisted clinical decision-making about procedure selection, novel bariatric procedures, enhanced recovery after bariatric surgery protocols, and logistical concerns (including cost factors) in the current health-care arena. There are 85 numbered recommendations that have updated supporting evidence, of which 61 are revised and 12 are new. Noting that there can be multiple recommendation statements within a single numbered recommendation, there are 31 (13%) Grade A, 42 (17%) Grade B, 72 (29%) Grade C, and 101 (41%) Grade D recommendations. There are 858 citations, of which 81 (9.4%) are evidence level (EL) 1 (highest), 562 (65.5%) are EL 2, 72 (8.4%) are EL 3, and 143 (16.7%) are EL 4 (lowest).
Conclusion:
Bariatric procedures remain a safe and effective intervention for higher-risk patients with obesity. Clinical decision-making should be evidence based within the context of a chronic disease. A team approach to perioperative care is mandatory, with special attention to nutritional and metabolic issues.
